TVS Motor Company has officially launched the much-awaited Apache RTX, marking its entry into the adventure-touring motorcycle segment. Priced from ₹1.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Apache RTX is available in three variants – Base, Top, and BTO (Built-To-Order) – with the top-spec version priced at ₹2.29 lakh.
Powerful New RT-XD4 Engine with 36hp Output
At the heart of the new TVS Apache RTX is a newly developed 299cc RT-XD4 single-cylinder engine, first showcased at MotoSoul 2024. This liquid-cooled unit delivers 36hp at 9,000rpm and 28.5Nm at 7,000rpm, making it TVS’ second most powerful motorcycle after the RR 310. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a bidirectional quickshifter, tuned for linear and tractable performance with strong low-end torque ideal for touring.
Built for Touring, Not Hardcore Off-Roading
The Apache RTX uses an all-new steel trellis frame, suspended by a 41mm USD front fork and a rear monoshock. With 180mm of suspension travel and 200mm of ground clearance, the bike is designed to handle mild off-road trails while offering great stability on highways. It rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels with dual-purpose tyres developed specifically for the RTX. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS. The bike has a seat height of 835mm and a kerb weight of 180kg.
Feature-Rich Package with Cruise Control, Ride Modes and TFT Display
TVS has equipped the Apache RTX with a long list of features usually found on higher-end ADVs. It comes with four riding modes – Urban, Rain, Tour, and Rally – that alter ABS and traction control settings. Cruise control is standard across all variants. The higher trims feature a 5-inch TFT colour display with dedicated switchgear, offering smartphone connectivity via the TVS SmartXonnect app. Riders can access Google Maps mirroring, call and message alerts, and detailed ride statistics. The top-end BTO variant also adds adjustable suspension and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Accessories and Gear Partnership
TVS has partnered with Givi to offer a full range of touring accessories, including panniers, top boxes, and tank bags. Additionally, through its collaboration with Alpinestars, TVS will soon launch a new line of adventure riding gear – from dual-sport helmets to gloves and boots – tailored for long-distance riders.
