Hyundai has officially unveiled the facelifted version of its Tucson SUV, and the refreshed model is set to make its way to India next year. The current-generation Tucson was introduced in the Indian market in August 2022, and the upcoming facelift brings a host of updates both in terms of aesthetics and interior enhancements.
Exterior Changes
The Tucson facelift adheres to Hyundai’s new Parametric Dynamics design language, aligning it with the latest-gen Kona and the recently debuted Santa Fe SUV. Notable exterior changes include a redesigned front grille, front and rear skid plates to accentuate width, subtly restyled headlights, and a fresh alloy wheel design.
Interior Upgrades
Inside the cabin, the Tucson facelift boasts a “more refined” aesthetic. The infotainment touchscreen and driver’s display are now integrated into a sleek, curved one-piece panel, complemented by a redesigned steering wheel. The center console has been revamped for a cleaner appearance, featuring a new haptic control stack for various functions. Notably, physical heater dials make a return, prioritizing user-friendliness while driving. The slimmer center stack creates additional space, resulting in a larger storage area in front of the center console.
Powertrain Options
While the exterior and interior receive substantial updates, there are no announced changes to the powertrain. The Tucson facelift will likely retain its existing powertrain options, varying by market. In India, the current Tucson offers a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 156hp and 192Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel engine, on the other hand, generates 186hp and 416Nm of torque, coupled with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV comes with an optional AWD system featuring multi-terrain modes (Snow, Mud, and Sand) for the top diesel variant.
India Launch and Competition
In the Indian market, the Tucson competes with models such as the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq. Hyundai is expected to reveal more details about the updated SUV closer to its launch in India next year. Car enthusiasts can anticipate a comprehensive package, combining refreshed aesthetics, improved interiors, and a choice of reliable powertrains, making the Tucson facelift a compelling option in the competitive SUV segment.
