Tesla Finalizes Showroom Locations in India: Report

Tesla Finalizes Showroom Locations in India

Tesla has reportedly secured two prime locations for its first showrooms in India, according to Reuters, citing anonymous sources. The chosen sites are in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex and Delhi’s Aerocity, both strategically located near airports.

The electric vehicle (EV) giant resumed its search for retail spaces in 2024 after previously pausing its India entry plans in 2022. Each showroom is expected to span approximately 5,000 square feet. This move follows a recent meeting between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the United States. Additionally, Tesla has begun hiring for 14 positions in India, including store and customer relationship managers.

While exact opening dates remain unconfirmed, sources indicate that these locations will focus solely on sales, with no service centers planned at this stage.

Potential Tesla Manufacturing Hub in Maharashtra

Tesla may set up a manufacturing base in Maharashtra, as per a report by The Economic Times. The automaker already has an office in Pune and works with multiple suppliers in the region. The Maharashtra government has reportedly offered Tesla potential sites in Chakan and Chikhali—both well-established automotive hubs housing facilities for major brands like Tata Motors, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen.

These developments signal Tesla’s accelerating efforts to establish a presence in the Indian market.
