Tata Punch EV Facelift Debuts in India: Bigger Batteries, Lower Prices, and a Bolder Look

Tata Punch EV Facelift Debuts in India

Tata Motors has officially pulled the wraps off the Punch EV facelift in India, and it comes with a compelling proposition — a lower starting price, upgraded battery packs, and a refreshed design that brings it closer in line with the ICE-powered Punch. Priced from just Rs 9.69 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated electric SUV undercuts its predecessor while delivering more on almost every front.

What’s New With the 2025 Tata Punch EV Facelift?

The original Punch EV was Tata’s entry point into the electric SUV space, but the facelift takes things a significant step forward. The most notable change lies under the hood — or rather, beneath the floor. Tata has swapped the older 25kWh and 35kWh battery options for two new packs: a 30kWh unit and a larger 40kWh variant. The bigger battery delivers an ARAI-certified range of 468km, while real-world C75 testing puts it closer to 355km — which is still highly competitive for the segment.

Fast charging has seen a meaningful improvement too. Using a 65kW DC fast charger, the battery can go from 20 to 80 percent in just 26 minutes, adding roughly 135km of range in 15 minutes.

Tata Punch EV Facelift Price List

Here’s how the variant pricing breaks down:

Variant 30kWh (Rs lakh) 40kWh (Rs lakh)
Smart 9.69
Smart+ 10.29 10.89
Adventure 11.59
Empowered 12.29
Empowered+ 12.59

Compared to the pre-facelift model — which ranged from Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 14.44 lakh — the new lineup is not only more affordable at entry level but also Rs 1.85 lakh cheaper at the top. Tata has also introduced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option that drops the starting price to Rs 6.49 lakh, with battery usage billed separately at Rs 2.6 per kilometre.

Performance and Powertrain

The 40kWh variants are powered by an electric motor producing 129hp and 154Nm, capable of sprinting from 0 to 100kph in under 9 seconds. The 30kWh variants use a slightly smaller 88hp motor, though torque remains identical at 154Nm. Both configurations drive the front wheels and support three driving modes — Eco, City, and Sport — plus four levels of regenerative braking via steering-column paddle shifters.

Tata also offers a lifetime, unlimited-kilometre battery warranty, which adds significant long-term peace of mind.

Design: Familiar, But Sharper

The facelift brings a cleaner front fascia with a redesigned bumper and a fully closed-off grille. The heavy black trim strip that previously connected the headlamps has been removed, giving the front a less cluttered appearance. The signature Y-shaped LED DRLs and centrally positioned charging flap are carried over. At the rear, connected LED tail-lamps now replace the older individual units, a styling cue borrowed from the ICE Punch facelift.

New 16-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels, three fresh exterior colour options with contrasting black roof combinations, 195mm ground clearance, and 450mm water-wading capacity round out the exterior updates.

Features and Safety

Inside, the cabin layout is largely unchanged, but higher trims gain a 10.25-inch touchscreen paired with an equally sized digital instrument cluster. Creature comforts include wireless charging, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, and connected car technology across select variants.

On the safety front, six airbags come as standard across all variants, supported by electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, high beam assist, tyre pressure monitoring, and ISOFIX child-seat anchors.

Who Is It Up Against?

The Punch EV facelift competes primarily with the MG Comet and Citroen eC3 in the sub-compact electric SUV segment. Within Tata’s own portfolio, it slots between the Tiago EV below and the Nexon EV above — giving buyers a well-rounded middle ground in terms of size, range, and price.

Bookings are currently open, with deliveries expected to commence soon. Given the sharper pricing, improved range figures, and faster charging, the 2025 Tata Punch EV facelift looks well-positioned to strengthen its standing in India’s growing EV market.
