Skoda Kylaq Faces Up to 4-Month Waiting Period

Skoda India has recently launched the Kylaq compact SUV, initiating deliveries and test drives across the country. The model has garnered significant attention, resulting in a waiting period that can extend up to four months, depending on the variant chosen. The Kylaq is priced between Rs 7.89 lakh and Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom).

Key Highlights:

  • Waiting Period: Ranges from 2 to 4 months, varying by variant.
  • Engine Options: Powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
  • Safety: Achieved a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests.

Waiting Period Breakdown:

Skoda aims to deliver 33,000 units of the Kylaq by May, with a focus on higher-spec variants. Here’s a detailed look at the waiting periods:

  • Classic Trim (Base Variant): The waiting period can extend up to four months. This trim is only available with a manual gearbox and limited color options. Skoda had temporarily paused bookings for this variant but has recently reopened them, with deliveries expected in the second batch.
  • Signature Trim (Mid Variant): The waiting period averages 3-4 months for both manual and automatic versions, with slight variations based on color choices.
  • Signature+ and Prestige Trims (Top Variants): These variants are more readily available, with an average waiting period of 2-3 months, regardless of color or transmission type.

Performance and Features:

The Kylaq is equipped with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that delivers 115hp and 178Nm of torque. It offers two transmission options: a 6-speed manual with an ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of 19.05 km/l and a 6-speed torque converter automatic with an efficiency of 19.68 km/l.

In terms of safety, the Kylaq comes standard with six airbags. The top-spec variants boast premium features such as a 10-inch infotainment screen, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, powered and ventilated front seats, a sunroof, ambient lighting, and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Skoda Kylaq’s combination of performance, safety, and features has made it a popular choice in the compact SUV segment, contributing to the extended waiting periods for certain variants.
