Skoda Kodiaq Lounge 5-Seater Launched At ₹39.99 Lakh – New Entry-Level Variant

Skoda Kodiaq Lounge 5-Seater Launched

Skoda has introduced a new entry-level variant of the Kodiaq SUV, called Lounge, priced at ₹39.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Unlike the existing 7-seater Sportline and L&K trims, the Lounge is a 5-seater and comes with some unique design touches and a slightly pared-down feature list, while retaining the same mechanical package.

Price & Positioning

With the introduction of the Lounge, the Kodiaq’s price range now starts at ₹39.99 lakh and tops out at ₹45.96 lakh under the revised GST 2.0 rates.

This makes the Lounge ₹3.77 lakh more affordable than the Sportline and almost ₹6 lakh cheaper than the L&K trim.

How It Stacks Up Against Rivals

At ₹39.99 lakh, the Kodiaq Lounge is priced higher than some of its 5-seat rivals, such as the Hyundai Tucson (₹27.32–33.64 lakh) and Citroen C5 Aircross (₹37.32 lakh). However, it still undercuts the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line (₹45.73 lakh), which sits closest in terms of positioning.

Design & Exterior Updates

The Lounge variant gets 18-inch ‘Mazeno’ alloy wheels and is available in just three exterior colour options – Moon White, Magic Black, and Graphite Grey. In comparison, the Sportline and L&K trims offer additional shades, including Race Blue, Velvet Red, Steel Grey, and Bronx Gold.

Interior & Features

Being a 5-seater, the Lounge offers a massive 786-litre boot capacity, significantly more than the 281 litres available in the 7-seat trims with all rows up. The cabin features a grey-themed upholstery in faux suede and fabric, paired with a two-spoke steering wheel instead of the three-spoke unit found on higher trims.

While the safety kit remains identical to the pricier variants, Skoda has reduced some creature comforts:

Engine & Performance

Under the hood, the Kodiaq Lounge continues with the 204hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. Performance, drivability, and refinement remain unchanged from the Sportline and L&K trims.

Key Takeaway

The new Skoda Kodiaq Lounge makes the premium SUV slightly more accessible with its lower price point, while still offering the same performance and safety package. Buyers who don’t need a third row of seats and can live without a few luxury features now have a more practical and spacious option in the Kodiaq range.
