Royal Enfield Classic 650: Everything We Know Ahead of the Launch

Royal Enfield Classic 650

Royal Enfield is gearing up to reveal the much-anticipated Classic 650 at the upcoming EICMA Motor Show. This model has already been spotted in test runs across India, building excitement ahead of its official debut. Here’s a comprehensive look at what we can expect from the Royal Enfield Classic 650.

Design and Styling

The Classic 650 appears to inherit much of the iconic retro styling from its smaller sibling, the Classic 350. Spy shots reveal traditional design cues, including a vintage round headlamp, robust mudguards, and a nostalgic round tail light. The fuel tank on the test model sports a maroon-and-cream dual-tone finish, one of the color schemes likely to be offered. The bike also features Royal Enfield’s classic branding, showcasing one of the recently trademarked logos.

Engine and Mechanics

Under the hood, the Classic 650 will be powered by the same 648cc parallel-twin engine found in other 650cc models like the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, and Super Meteor 650. The engine is expected to deliver 47.6PS of power and 52Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. While it shares these core specs with its siblings, Royal Enfield may fine-tune the gearing and engine mapping on the Classic 650 to prioritize smoother, relaxed riding.

The motorcycle is expected to feature a tubular steel frame, complemented by a telescopic fork in the front and twin shock absorbers in the rear for a balanced ride. For braking, the Classic 650 may come equipped with a 320mm disc brake with a twin-piston caliper up front, and a 300mm disc brake at the rear, both with ABS, similar to the Super Meteor 650. Other details from the spy shots include chrome-finished engine casings, spoked wheels likely in 18-inch sizes with tube-type tires, and dual exhausts that further emphasize the retro aesthetic.

Features

The Classic 650 is expected to adopt the same instrument console as the Super Meteor 650, featuring an analog dial paired with a small LCD screen. Spy images also indicate the inclusion of all-around LED lighting, bringing a modern touch to this classic-inspired motorcycle.

Expected Price and Launch Timeline

The Royal Enfield Classic 650 is anticipated to be priced around Rs 3.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Following its EICMA unveiling, it will be displayed at Royal Enfield’s Motoverse event in Goa later this year. The bike is likely to hit Indian showrooms by December or early next year.
