Range Rover ‘Himalayan’ Special Edition Likely to Launch in India

Range Rover ‘Himalayan’ Special Edition Likely to Launch in India

Following the strong market response to the Range Rover Ranthambore Edition, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is gearing up to introduce another India-specific special edition — this time inspired by the Himalayas.

JLR’s global managing director, Martin Limpert, revealed the plan during a media interaction. “The Ranthambore Edition was very well received. Our Indian customers appreciate uniquely tailored models, so we’re preparing another one, drawing inspiration from the Himalayas,” he said.

More India-Themed Specials on the Horizon

According to JLR, these special editions enhance the brand’s exclusivity and resonate strongly with Indian buyers. The company is now leveraging local assembly operations to expand its bespoke offerings, making it easier to launch such region-specific variants.

While full details of the upcoming Himalayan Edition are yet to be revealed, it is expected to feature a lighter exterior shade — possibly white — along with thematic design elements, much like the styling approach of the Ranthambore Edition.

For reference, the Ranthambore model came in a striking black exterior contrasted by Corinthian Bronze and Anthracite accents, symbolising tiger stripes. The interior boasted Caraway and Perlino semi-aniline leather with intricate embroidery patterns inspired by a tiger’s spine. Only 12 units were produced, all of which sold out within a week.

Local Assembly Boosts Customisation Potential

Limpert highlighted that the localisation of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport has played a major role in JLR’s growth in India. For FY2025, the automaker recorded a 40 percent year-on-year increase, selling 6,183 units and securing the third position in India’s luxury vehicle market. Specifically, the local assembly led to a 2.5x increase in sales of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.

Looking ahead, JLR intends to build on this momentum by enhancing its bespoke offerings for Indian buyers — with the Himalayan Edition likely to be the next in line.
