Ola has launched its highly anticipated Gen 3 electric scooters, featuring four distinct models: S1 X, S1 X+, S1 Pro, and the flagship S1 Pro+. Prices for the new range start at Rs 79,999 and go up to Rs 1.70 lakh, with the entry-level S1 X and the Gen 2 versions of the S1 X and S1 Pro still available at reduced prices. Notably, the S1 Air has been discontinued.
Key Upgrades in the Gen 3 Platform
The Gen 3 scooters come with significant improvements. Ola has switched all its models to a mid-drive motor, replacing the previous hub-mounted unit. The new chain final drive is quieter than the belt-driven motors in the Gen 2 versions. Additionally, Ola has introduced its version of brake-by-wire technology, which adjusts to rider input to optimize braking performance, enhancing safety through the integration with ABS.
Ola’s new software, MoveOS 5, will be available by mid-February, likely coinciding with the first deliveries. Among its many features, MoveOS 5 includes a customizable screen layout, Smart Park for front and rear parking assist, remote scooter locking via smartphone or smartwatch, emergency contact alerts, and a map to locate charging stations during road trips.
Ola S1 X Gen 3: Affordable Performance
The S1 X is the most budget-friendly option in Ola’s lineup, available in three battery variants: 2kWh (Rs 79,999), 3kWh (Rs 89,999), and 4kWh (Rs 99,999). The 4kWh variant offers an impressive 242 km range (claimed) and a 7kW motor capable of reaching 123 km/h. The new mid-drive motor and disc brake setup improve both performance and safety. The S1 X can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3 seconds, outpacing the Gen 2 S1 Pro.
Ola S1 X+ Gen 3: Enhanced Features
The S1 X+ is an upgraded version of the S1 X, priced at Rs 1.08 lakh. Featuring a more powerful 11kW motor, the S1 X+ boasts a top speed of 125 km/h and a 2.7-second 0-40 km/h sprint. It also includes single-channel ABS, utilizing Ola’s advanced brake-by-wire system, and is equipped with MoveOS 5 for additional tech features. The S1 X+ comes in a single 4kWh variant with a range of 242 km, and offers a choice of five colors.
Ola S1 Pro Gen 3: Retaining Its Appeal
The S1 Pro, available in 3kWh (Rs 1.15 lakh) and 4kWh (Rs 1.35 lakh) variants, maintains its strong performance with an 11kW motor and a top speed of 125 km/h. The S1 Pro accelerates from 0-40 km/h in 2.7 seconds, matching the S1 X+ but with a more premium experience. It features a larger touchscreen display, body-colored mirrors, and higher-end finishes compared to the S1 X.
Ola S1 Pro+ Gen 3: The Flagship Model
The S1 Pro+ is Ola’s most powerful electric scooter, available in 4kWh (Rs 1.55 lakh) and 5.3kWh (Rs 1.70 lakh) variants. The 5.3kWh model features a remarkable 320 km range and an impressive 13kW motor that delivers a top speed of 141 km/h. It accelerates from 0-40 km/h in just 2.1 seconds. This is the first Ola scooter to offer dual-channel ABS, and it also comes with exclusive features such as rim decals and an aluminum pillion grab rail.
Introductory Pricing and Availability
The prices for the Gen 3 models are introductory and will be valid for the next seven days. Bookings are open, with deliveries scheduled to begin in mid-February. Ola has expanded its presence, now operating over 4,000 stores and service centers across India, a significant increase from just 800 in November 2024. Additionally, the company has hinted at some exciting news about electric bikes on February 5.

Alongside the new Gen 3 models, Ola will continue selling the Gen 2 S1 X (2kWh, Rs 69,999; 3kWh, Rs 79,999; 4kWh, Rs 89,999) and the Gen 2 S1 Pro (Rs 1.15 lakh) at discounted prices.
