Ola Electric Unveils S1 Pro Sport, Breakthrough 4680 Cells, and Bold Future Plans

Ola Electric Unveils S1 Pro Sport

Ola Electric used its annual 15th August event as a stage to roll out an ambitious roadmap — spanning from immediate product launches to game-changing future technology. Alongside the unveiling of the all-new Ola S1 Pro Sport, the company detailed its in-house battery cell development, next-generation software, and even teased futuristic motorcycles.

4680 Battery Cells Arrive in September 2025

After years of development, Ola’s own 4680 cylindrical battery cells are finally ready for production use. The first EVs to benefit from these locally-manufactured cells will be the Ola S1 Pro+ and Ola Roadster X+, launching next month.

Bookings made before 17th August 2025 will get an extra ₹10,000 discount, with deliveries promised from 22nd September 2025. Ola claims a blistering 20–80% charge time of just 15 minutes using a fast charger, though other models in the lineup will have to wait for the upgrade.

Ola S1 Pro Sport – Coming January 2026

The star of the showcase, the Ola S1 Pro Sport, is set to become the company’s most powerful scooter yet.

Interestingly, despite its performance edge, the introductory price is set at just ₹1,49,999, and it can be reserved for ₹999.

MoveOS 6 – Smarter, Safer, More Connected

Arriving in early 2026, Ola’s MoveOS 6 software will introduce AI-driven enhancements, support for 11 languages, and a voice assistant. The most significant leap is ADAS integration, enabled via onboard cameras.

Planned safety and convenience features include:

Gen 4 Platform – Rare-Earth-Free Powertrain

Ola also revealed details of its upcoming Gen 4 platform, which combines the 4680 cells with newly developed rare-earth-free Ferrite motors. The company claims these motors match the performance of rare-earth PMSM units, addressing global supply challenges. Larger 46100 and 46120 cells are also in the works, though no launch date has been provided.

Ola Diamondhead – The 2027 Flagship Superbike

The radical Ola Diamondhead concept is back, now with promises of unprecedented technology:

Built from titanium, aero-grade magnesium, and aluminium, the Diamondhead is targeted for a ₹5 lakh launch price in 2027. Ola calls it “the most amazing bike ever built”.

Delayed Low-Cost Models

While the high-end models make headlines, Ola’s more affordable EVs — like the Ola Gig and Ola S1 Z showcased in 2024 — remain delayed, with no revised launch timeline shared.

With an aggressive mix of near-term product launches and far-reaching innovations, Ola Electric is aiming to not just dominate the Indian EV market, but also redefine performance and technology standards for electric mobility globally.
