Okaya Electric Vehicles (EV) said that its electric two-wheelers have been given ICAT certification under AIS 156 Amendment III Phase 2. The new rules cover the safety of EVs, including how the battery pack and its parts are designed, built, and tested. With this certification, Okaya’s EV range meets the new standards, and the battery gets a lot of safety upgrades.
Okaya says that the updated battery pack has high-quality wires and chargers with overcharging protection, thermal protection, audio-visual warning systems, and a smart BMS. The company has also added a buzzer as an extra safety feature that will warn the rider at least five minutes before a thermal runaway. The important parts are also rated IP-67, which means they can stand up to dust and water.
Anshul Gupta, the Managing Director of Okaya EV, said this about the latest news: “For us, customer safety is the most important thing. And getting the ICAT certification under AIS 156 Amendment III Phase 2 shows how much we want to give customers safe, high-quality electric vehicles. Because we have a lot of experience with batteries, we have been able to make the safest electric cars for our customers.
The certification process includes a lot of tests to make sure that our vehicle can handle a lot of different things. We think that this certification will help customers trust electric cars more and give them peace of mind that they are safe and reliable. We will keep making new technological advances to make it easy and safe to own an electric vehicle (EV) and to help the government’s plan to promote electric mobility in India.
The electric two-wheelers made by Okaya come with batteries made of lithium iron phosphate (LFP), which also lasts longer. People say that LFP batteries are more stable than NMC cells and that they can handle higher temperatures and drain the battery more efficiently.
