Nissan Patrol Expected to Launch in India by 2026 as Premium Flagship SUV

Nissan Patrol Expected to Launch in India

Nissan is actively exploring the launch of its renowned flagship SUV, the Patrol, in India, targeting a debut around 2026. Expected to enter the market as a completely built-up (CBU) import, the Patrol would serve as a “halo model” to enhance Nissan’s brand image in India, according to sources. The Patrol recently received a full redesign globally, known as the Y63 generation, which is currently sold only in left-hand-drive markets. However, right-hand-drive (RHD) versions are anticipated to follow, making an India launch feasible by 2026.

Key Highlights for the Indian Market

The Patrol would reinforce Nissan’s portfolio in India at a time when Nissan and Renault are set to launch two new mass-market SUVs starting in 2025. This launch aligns with Nissan’s strategy to elevate brand perception in India, a move previously attempted with the imported X-Trail, though the latter struggled due to its age and high price. The Patrol, being an all-new model with Nissan’s latest features, could attract more attention from India’s premium SUV market.

Nissan Patrol’s Global Expansion and RHD Adaptation

Nissan is gradually introducing the Y63 Patrol across its global markets, although currently only in left-hand-drive configurations. Strong demand from RHD regions like Australia, South Africa, and Japan has pushed Nissan to prepare RHD versions, which are expected to launch by 2026.

While this is not Nissan’s first attempt to bring the Patrol to India—the brand evaluated the previous Y62 generation in 2020—the timing now seems more favorable with the latest generation and a growing market for high-end, rugged SUVs in India.
