Nissan has officially revealed the name of its upcoming compact MPV for India – Gravite. Set to strengthen the brand’s presence in the mass-market segment, the Nissan Gravite will be the company’s first three-row people-mover for India and is scheduled to debut in January 2026, with prices to be announced in March 2026.
The new Gravite will be positioned as an affordable sub-4-metre, seven-seater MPV, aimed squarely at family buyers. It will sit below the Magnite in Nissan’s India portfolio and will compete directly with the Renault Triber.
Nissan Gravite: Platform and Positioning
The Nissan Gravite is based on the CMF-A+ platform, shared with the Renault Triber. This architecture underpins several compact models from the Renault-Nissan alliance and is known for its cost efficiency and space optimisation. Given its underpinnings, the Gravite is expected to mirror the Triber’s flexible seating layout while offering Nissan-specific design and feature enhancements.
Nissan Gravite Exterior Design: Familiar Shape, New Identity
While the Gravite retains the compact proportions of the Triber, Nissan has worked in subtle visual changes to give the MPV its own identity.
Key exterior highlights are expected to include:
-
A reprofiled front bumper and grille with Nissan’s design signature
-
Revised LED lighting elements within familiar headlamp housings
-
New alloy wheel designs
-
A refreshed rear bumper and updated tail-lamp graphics
-
Prominent ‘Gravite’ badging on the tailgate
Despite these changes, the Gravite will remain under four metres in length, allowing it to benefit from favourable tax brackets in India.
Nissan Gravite Interior and Features: Nissan-Specific Touches
Although the cabin has not yet been revealed, the Gravite is expected to borrow its basic layout from the Triber, including the dashboard and steering wheel design. Nissan is likely to differentiate the MPV through unique interior colour schemes, upholstery, and feature packaging.
Expected features include:
-
7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster
-
8-inch touchscreen infotainment system
-
Wireless smartphone charging
-
Push-button start/stop
-
Manual air-conditioning with second- and third-row vents
Safety Equipment
Safety is likely to be a strong focus, with Nissan expected to offer:
-
Six airbags
-
Front and rear parking sensors
-
Rear-view camera
-
Hill-start assist
-
Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
Final safety specifications will be confirmed closer to launch.
Nissan Gravite Engine and Gearbox Options
Powering the Nissan Gravite will likely be the familiar 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, shared with the Renault Triber, Nissan Magnite (lower variants), and Renault Kiger.
Engine specifications:
-
Power: 76hp
-
Torque: 95Nm
Transmission options are expected to include:
-
5-speed manual gearbox
-
5-speed AMT
Nissan may also introduce a CNG variant at a later stage, potentially as a dealer-level fitment, similar to the Triber.
