Kia’s highly anticipated next-generation Seltos has been seen testing on Indian roads for the first time. Set to make its global debut in mid-2025, this new iteration of Kia’s popular compact SUV is expected to compete fiercely with rivals like the Hyundai Creta. The current-generation Seltos, introduced in 2019, has been a strong contender in the segment, and its successor looks to build on that legacy.
EV5-Inspired Design for the New Kia Seltos
The test mule recently spotted in India appears consistent with earlier sightings in South Korea, showcasing a design philosophy inspired by Kia’s EV5 SUV. While the next-gen Seltos will likely retain the existing platform and similar dimensions, the styling undergoes a dramatic transformation.
The new model is expected to feature sharper, more angular design elements, particularly at the front and rear. Key highlights include connected LED headlamps with a distinctive lighting signature and C-shaped tail lamps joined by a light bar, further enhancing its modern appeal.
Anticipated Powertrain Options
While Kia has yet to reveal official details about the powertrain, the new Seltos is expected to offer a wide range of engine and transmission options. These may include turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, along with the potential addition of a petrol-hybrid variant. Launch Timeline for India
The next-generation Seltos is expected to make its global debut in the second quarter of 2025, with an Indian launch projected for late 2025 or early 2026.
In the meantime, Kia plans to maintain its momentum in India by introducing three new models in 2024. The launches include the Syros compact SUV debuting on December 19, followed by the Carens facelift and its EV counterpart by mid-2025.
