Next-Gen Jeep Compass Teased Ahead of 2025 Global Debut

Jeep’s parent company, Stellantis, has unveiled the first teaser image of the upcoming third-generation Jeep Compass SUV, set to make its global debut in 2025. The current second-generation Compass, introduced in 2017 and updated with a facelift, is still available in markets like India.

What the Teaser Reveals About the New Jeep Compass

The teaser showcases the SUV’s side profile, revealing a sharper and more angular design. It retains the signature Jeep front end, characterized by a bold nose, but introduces a flatter hood and roof, with the latter subtly sloping toward the rear. Muscular flares around the wheel arches and additional cladding give the vehicle a rugged look. A prominent character line runs from the front all the way to the rear, tapering downward near the rear door.

The new Compass features a floating roof design, thanks to blacked-out D-pillars and quarter glass surrounds. At the rear, horizontally aligned, squared-off taillights sit just below the rear window, while the short rear overhang integrates seamlessly with a tall rear bumper.

Platform and Powertrain Options

This all-new Compass will be the first Jeep to ride on Stellantis’ STLA Medium (M) platform, which also underpins models like the Peugeot 3008, 5008, and Opel Grandland. The upcoming Citroën C5 Aircross, recently spotted testing in Spain, will also share this platform.

Jeep has confirmed that the next-gen Compass will offer four-wheel drive and a variety of “multi-energy propulsion systems.” The STLA M platform is designed to accommodate internal combustion engines (ICE), mild-hybrid systems, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric powertrains, ensuring a broad range of options.

No Plans for India Launch

As previously reported, the new-generation Compass won’t be launching in India. Although Jeep had initially planned to introduce the new model (codenamed J4U) in India by 2026, the STLA M platform failed to meet commercial viability for the market. High investment costs for a single product on the platform, combined with projected sales volumes that didn’t justify the expense, led Stellantis to cancel the project. The company also explored using the platform to manufacture Peugeot SUVs for export to Malaysia but couldn’t guarantee the minimum required volume.

Current-Gen Compass to Continue in India

For the Indian market, Jeep will continue to offer the current-generation Compass, which received a significant update in 2021. This model will remain in production with its diesel engine until 2026. Looking ahead, Jeep is expected to introduce an all-new SUV based on a Citroën platform by 2027.
