Next-Gen Bajaj Chetak Set for December Launch

Next-Gen Bajaj Chetak Set for December Launch

Since its launch in 2020, the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has seen a steady rise in popularity, especially after 2023. Now a strong contender for the number two spot in the electric two-wheeler market, Bajaj is preparing to unveil a significantly updated version of the Chetak later this month.

This update is geared towards enhancing the scooter’s practicality, particularly in response to competition from models like the Ather Rizta, Ola S1, and TVS iQube, which boast larger storage capacities. Bajaj has tackled this by developing a new chassis that repositions the battery pack under the floorboard, thereby freeing up additional storage space.

The redesigned battery placement could also lead to a boost in range, although any increase is expected to be modest. Currently, the Chetak offers an IDC-certified range of 123 to 137 km, depending on the variant.

While the battery and chassis are seeing changes, the scooter’s exterior design will likely remain largely unchanged—a strategic move considering its wide appeal among buyers of all ages. Minor updates, such as fresh color options, might be introduced, but the overall aesthetic is expected to stay true to its current form.

The next-gen Bajaj Chetak is anticipated to launch by mid-December, with pricing expected to remain competitive, ranging between ₹96,000 and ₹1.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
