New car and SUV launches lined up in January 2025

The Bharat Mobility Show, scheduled from January 17–22, 2025, promises to kick off the new year with an electrifying lineup of vehicle debuts. Highlighting the growing momentum of electric mobility, the event will showcase a range of EVs spanning from affordable electric SUVs to high-performance sports cars. Here’s a closer look at the much-anticipated launches.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara

Maruti Suzuki is set to make waves with its first mass-market EV, the e Vitara, a milestone for India’s largest automaker. The production version closely mirrors the bold eVX concept, albeit with a slightly refined design. Offered in two configurations—49kWh and 61kWh battery packs—the e Vitara delivers outputs of 144hp and 184hp, respectively, with the latter available in an optional dual-motor AWD variant. The flagship 61kWh model is expected to achieve over 500km range on global test cycles, making it a game-changer in the segment.

Hyundai Creta EV

Hyundai’s first foray into the mass-market EV space, the Creta EV, will go head-to-head with the e Vitara. Based on an adapted ICE platform, the Creta EV maintains the familiar proportions of its petrol counterpart but incorporates distinct EV-specific design elements. Powered by a 45kWh battery, it is expected to offer around 400km of range. The interior is likely to borrow heavily from Hyundai’s Alcazar facelift and Kona models, blending familiarity with modern EV tech.

MG Cyberster

MG’s highly anticipated electric roadster, the Cyberster, will finally debut at the event. Featuring a striking design inspired by MG’s sports car heritage, this two-door convertible boasts scissor doors and cutting-edge EV technology. The Cyberster is equipped with a dual-motor AWD system producing 510hp and 725Nm of torque, propelling it from 0-100kph in just 3.2 seconds. Its 77kWh battery pack promises a maximum range of 580km (CLTC). Sold through the premium ‘MG Select’ channel, the Cyberster is set to redefine electric luxury.

Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e

Mahindra will unveil the full pricing of its BE 6 and XEV 9e, two futuristic SUVs built on the company’s INGLO electric platform. Both models feature striking concept-car-inspired designs. The BE 6 emphasizes bold styling, while the XEV 9e offers enhanced cabin space and advanced features, such as a passenger infotainment screen. Both are powered by a 59kWh battery, delivering 228hp and a range of over 540km (MIDC).

Mercedes-Benz G 580 (EQ)

Mercedes-Benz is bringing the electric G-Class, dubbed the G 580, to India ahead of the show. Featuring a classic design and enhanced off-road capabilities, the G 580’s four independent electric motors generate a combined 587hp and 1,165Nm, achieving 0-100kph in under five seconds. A 116kWh battery provides a range of 470km, proving that luxury and ruggedness can coexist seamlessly in the electric era.

Mercedes EQS SUV Additions

Mercedes will also expand its EQS lineup with the EQS SUV Maybach Night Edition and the EQS 450 5-seater. The Night Edition introduces an exclusive blacked-out theme with a two-tone exterior, while the EQS 450 caters to buyers seeking practicality without sacrificing luxury. Both variants retain the signature 122kWh battery, delivering exceptional performance and range.

Other Highlights

Apart from these headline launches, the Bharat Mobility Show will also feature debuts of several other vehicles, including the Skoda Kodiaq, Hyundai Ioniq 9, and the BMW X3, among others.
