MG Cyberster India Launch Confirmed

MG Motor has announced that the Cyberster, its first electric sportscar, will officially launch in India in January 2025. This highly anticipated model, previously showcased in India earlier this year, will be sold through the newly introduced premium retail channel, MG Select.

MG Select to Debut with Cyberster

The Cyberster will serve as the flagship model for MG Select, the brand’s dedicated dealership network for its high-end offerings. Initially, MG Select will operate through 12 exclusive experience centers across India, with plans to expand further.

Global Heritage and Electric Platform

The MG Cyberster first gained attention as a concept in 2021 and later made its dynamic debut at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Built on a dedicated electric platform, the Cyberster boasts impressive dimensions: 4,533mm in length, 1,912mm in width, and 1,328mm in height, with a 2,689mm wheelbase.

Powertrain and Range Options

Internationally, the Cyberster offers two powertrain configurations:

  1. Single-Motor Variant
    • Motor: 308hp, rear-mounted
    • Battery: 64kWh
    • Range: 520km (claimed)
  2. Dual-Motor Variant
    • Power: 544hp and 725Nm combined output
    • Battery: 77kWh
    • Range: 580km (CLTC-rated)

Details about the specific variant heading to India are yet to be revealed.

Pricing and Market Positioning

The MG Cyberster will be introduced as a fully imported unit, with an expected price range of ₹50–60 lakh (ex-showroom). While it has no direct competitors as an electric sportscar, it will share market space with premium EVs like the BYD Seal, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6.

Future Line-Up

Following the Cyberster, MG plans to expand its portfolio further in India with the launch of the Mifa electric MPV.

The MG Cyberster’s arrival marks a significant step for the brand in the Indian EV market, blending cutting-edge technology with its heritage of crafting thrilling automobiles.
