Mercedes CLE 300 Cabriolet launched at Rs 1.1 crore

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the CLE 300 Cabriolet at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.1 crore. Originally unveiled globally in July 2023, the CLE Cabriolet is now available in India exclusively as a convertible.

Mercedes CLE Cabriolet: Design and Features

The new CLE Cabriolet is built on Mercedes’ Modular Rear Architecture (MRA) platform, which it shares with the current C-Class and the upcoming new-generation E-Class. This platform gives the CLE Cabriolet a longer profile compared to the previous C- and E-Class coupes. The design draws inspiration from the outgoing E-Class coupe and cabriolet, featuring a prominent grille with a shark-nose effect, a sleek, elongated bonnet, and an automatic multi-layered fabric roof that folds seamlessly into the boot. The Indian variant is offered in AMG Line trim, which adds sporty elements like enhanced bumpers.

Inside, the CLE Cabriolet mirrors the interior layout of the C-Class, boasting a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch portrait-style infotainment display. The car has a 2+2 seating arrangement, with newly designed front seats that include integrated headrests, heating, and four-way lumbar support as standard. Notably, the CLE is Mercedes’ first Cabriolet to feature separate head airbags for rear passengers as standard. The soft top can be opened or closed in just 20 seconds, even at speeds of up to 60 kph.

Mercedes CLE Cabriolet: Powertrain, Performance, and Rivals

In India, the CLE Cabriolet is available in the 300 variant, powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This setup delivers 258 hp and 400 Nm of peak torque, coupled with a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Mercedes claims the CLE Cabriolet can accelerate from 0-100 kph in 6.6 seconds, with a top speed of 250 kph.

Despite its 2+2 seating, the CLE Cabriolet competes with the BMW Z4, which is priced at Rs 90.90 lakh. It also presents itself as a slightly more affordable alternative to the Porsche 718 Boxster.
