Mercedes-Benz Launches EQS 450 SUV in India

Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the new EQS 450 SUV, priced at ₹1.28 crore, making it a more accessible option in the EQS lineup. This variant is ₹13 lakh more affordable than the ₹1.41 crore EQS 580 SUV. Unlike the 7-seater 580, the EQS 450 is a 5-seater model, offering a more compact configuration. The EQS 450 SUV, alongside the G 580 Edition One, will be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.

Performance, Battery, and Range

The EQS 450 SUV 4Matic is equipped with the same 122kWh battery pack as its sibling but features a slightly detuned powertrain. Its dual motors generate a combined output of 360hp and 800Nm of torque, compared to the 580’s 544hp and 858Nm. Despite the reduced output, the EQS 450 SUV delivers an impressive claimed MIDC range of 820km—11km more than the 580.

Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 6.1 seconds, making it 1.4 seconds slower than the EQS 580. Charging times remain consistent between the two models. Using a 200kW DC fast charger, the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in 31 minutes, while a full charge using a 22kW AC wall box takes approximately 6.25 hours.

Interior and Features

The 5-seater EQS 450 SUV features a spacious cabin with a larger boot area compared to the 7-seater 580. Both variants share a luxurious interior, highlighted by the 56-inch Hyperscreen setup, which includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch central touchscreen, and a front passenger display.

Other notable features include:

Exterior Design

On the outside, the EQS 450 sports 21-inch black-painted alloy wheels and Mercedes’ Electric Art Line styling, lending it a more understated look compared to the sportier AMG Line trim of the EQS 580.

Bookings and Deliveries

Bookings for the EQS 450 SUV are now open, with deliveries set to commence in February. Meanwhile, the EQS 580 SUV, launched in September last year, has already sold out, with the next batch expected in April.

The EQS 450 SUV bridges the gap for customers seeking the luxury and performance of Mercedes’ flagship electric SUV in a more compact and competitively priced package.
