Maruti Suzuki’s Financial Performance in FY2025
Despite the Wagon R’s success, Maruti Suzuki’s compact segment, including models like the Swift, Dzire, and Baleno, witnessed a 7.58 percent decline in sales. The company sold 8.96 lakh compact cars in FY2025, down from 9.70 lakh units in FY2024.
Overall, Maruti Suzuki’s domestic sales reached 17.61 lakh units in FY2025, marking a modest 0.05 percent growth from FY2024. Key contributors to this growth included a 10 percent surge in rural sales and a 3.5 percent increase in rural market share, driven by the expansion of Maruti Suzuki’s dealership network into over 150 upcountry markets.
Urban vs. Rural Sales of Wagon R
The Wagon R’s sales were almost evenly split between urban and rural markets, with 51.8 percent coming from urban areas and 48.2 percent from rural regions. However, a notable portion of its urban sales is attributed to fleet buyers, indicating its strong appeal in the commercial segment as well.
With its continued dominance and steady demand across different market segments, the Maruti Wagon R remains a key pillar in Maruti Suzuki’s success story, solidifying its reputation as one of India’s most trusted and practical hatchbacks.
