Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the all-new, fourth-generation Dzire, set to launch on November 11. Designed specifically for the Indian market, this revamped compact sedan boasts a fresh powertrain, refined exterior and interior styling, and upgraded technology.
New Maruti Dzire: Dimensions and Exterior Design
The new Dzire measures 3,995mm in length, 1,735mm in width, and 1,525mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,450mm and ground clearance of 163mm. While its overall dimensions remain similar to the previous model, the new version is 10mm taller. The design has taken a bold departure from its predecessors, particularly at the front, where it no longer resembles the Swift.
The front features a flatter hood with subtle creases and new “crystal vision” headlamps, inspired by premium Audi designs. These headlamps have blacked-out accents and crystal-like elements. A larger hexagonal grille with six horizontal slats, highlighted by a chrome-accented piano black bar, is centered by the Suzuki logo. LED fog lights are positioned at each corner for higher variants.
The side profile flows seamlessly from the roofline into the trunk, complemented by reshaped doors and a subtle, rising shoulder line. The new alloy wheels feature a diamond-cut design for the top trims, with simpler options for the mid-range models.
At the rear, the compact sedan has squarish “3D Trinity” LED tail lights, slightly smaller than those on the outgoing model but with a similar shape. A chrome bar joins the tail lights in the middle, while the boot lid and bumper retain some of the previous model’s design elements.
New Maruti Dzire: Interior, Features, and Technology
The Dzire’s interior, while sharing some layout elements with the Swift, adopts its own color scheme and feature set. The dashboard is styled in a four-tone palette, with beige as the dominant shade, complemented by dark brown accents, faux wood with a matte finish, and touches of brushed aluminum. Key elements like the multifunction steering wheel, analog dials, HVAC controls, and AC vents are similar to those in the Swift.
The infotainment system is a 9-inch Smartplay Pro Plus unit, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with connected car features. This is the first time the Dzire offers a factory-fitted sunroof, marking a significant addition for compact sedans in India. Top variants also add features like cruise control, rear AC vents, a rear center armrest, and a 360-degree camera.
For safety, the Dzire includes six airbags, ESP, hill-hold assist, ABS with EBD, brake assist, three-point seat belts for all seats, ISOFIX mounts, and a standard rear defogger across all trims.
New Maruti Dzire: Engine and Performance
The new Dzire is powered by the Z12E 1.2-liter, three-cylinder engine from the Swift’s latest generation. This engine delivers 82hp and 111.7Nm of torque, paired with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT automatic. This replaces the previous Dzire’s more powerful 90hp, 113Nm, four-cylinder K-Series engine. Both manual and automatic versions come with an idle start/stop feature, and Maruti is expected to introduce a CNG option shortly after launch.
Competitors and Availability
The new Dzire will compete with the Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor, and Honda Amaze, the latter of which is due for an update soon. Bookings for the new Dzire are open, with deliveries anticipated to start later in November.
