Maruti Suzuki to Retain Third-Gen Dzire Tour S for Fleet Market

Maruti Suzuki to Retain Third-Gen Dzire Tour S for Fleet Market

Maruti Suzuki is set to continue selling the third-generation Dzire alongside its newly launched fourth-generation model, which debuts this month. While the all-new Dzire is primarily targeted at private buyers, the third-generation Dzire will remain available in the fleet market as the Dzire Tour S, catering to taxi operators and commercial fleets.

As with previous models, Maruti plans to have an overlap period for both versions. The third-gen Dzire, rebranded as the Tour S, will continue in production to meet demand from the commercial sector, where it holds a strong presence.

In an interview with Autocar India during the Dzire’s media event, Partho Banerjee, Maruti Suzuki’s head of sales and marketing, explained, “The new Dzire will not entirely replace the current model. The existing version will be retained exclusively as the Tour variant due to the significant sales generated by both models.”

While Maruti doesn’t disclose separate sales figures for the Dzire Tour S and the standard Dzire, Banerjee shared that out of the 1.6 lakh units sold last year, around 60,000 were the Tour variant, translating to an average of roughly 5,000 units per month. This consistent demand justifies keeping the older model in production for fleet purposes.

The Tour S has also held its ground against competitors, with monthly averages surpassing rivals like the Tata Tigor (1,300 units), Honda Amaze (2,300 units), and Hyundai Aura (4,500 units). Maruti Suzuki may eventually introduce a fourth-gen Dzire Tour S variant later in this model cycle to ensure ongoing support for the fleet segment.
