Maruti Suzuki has reached a significant milestone by producing two million vehicles in India during the calendar year 2025. This achievement makes Maruti Suzuki the first and only passenger car manufacturer in India to hit this landmark. Additionally, it is the first of Suzuki Motor Corporation’s global production facilities to accomplish this feat.
Ertiga Marks the Two-Millionth Production Milestone
The milestone was achieved when an Ertiga MPV rolled off the assembly line at Maruti’s Manesar facility in Haryana. While Maruti Suzuki offers a wide range of models in the Indian market, its top five best-selling vehicles for the year include the Baleno, Fronx, Ertiga, WagonR, and Brezza.
Production Facilities: Current and Future Plans
Maruti Suzuki operates three active production plants:
- Gurugram and Manesar facilities in Haryana, which together contributed 60% of the annual production.
- The Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, which accounted for the remaining share.
With these three plants, Maruti Suzuki’s current annual production capacity stands at 2.35 million units. To further enhance its output, Maruti is preparing an all-new production facility in Kharkhoda, Haryana, which will push its capacity to 4 million units. Additionally, the company is evaluating potential sites for a fifth plant, expected to add another 1 million units per year.
Maruti Suzuki’s Global Export Reach
Beyond meeting domestic demand, Maruti Suzuki’s production facilities also support export operations. The company currently ships 17 made-in-India models to over 100 international markets, including both left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive regions. Some of its leading export models include the Fronx, Jimny, Baleno, Dzire, and Swift.
Upcoming Models: Electric SUV and New Launches
Maruti Suzuki is expanding its product lineup with several exciting additions:
- eVitara: Maruti’s first all-electric vehicle for the Indian market will be unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo in New Delhi on January 17.
- Three-Row SUV: A new 7-seater SUV, based on the Grand Vitara, is set for launch later in 2025. The vehicle, which has been recently spotted testing, will cater to growing demand in the family SUV segment.
- New Dzire: Maruti introduced the updated Dzire sedan last month, further strengthening its position in the compact sedan category.
Conclusion
Maruti Suzuki’s consistent focus on innovation, expansion, and production efficiency has helped it achieve this record-breaking milestone. With an aggressive strategy for electric vehicles, export growth, and expanded production capacity, the automaker is well-positioned to maintain its leadership in the Indian automotive market while catering to global demand.
