Mahindra Thar Roxx Sets Record with 1.76 Lakh Bookings in Just 1 Hour

Mahindra opened bookings for its much-anticipated Thar Roxx SUV at 11 AM today, and within just an hour, the homegrown automaker amassed a staggering 1,76,218 bookings. This unprecedented demand is expected to lead to extended waiting periods for customers. Bookings for the Thar Roxx remain open both online and at Mahindra dealerships across the country.

Record-Breaking Demand and Delivery Timelines

The Thar Roxx, one of the most eagerly awaited launches of 2024, had already seen a substantial number of “unofficial” pre-bookings through dealers ahead of today’s official opening. With over 1.76 lakh confirmed bookings, Mahindra has set a new first-day record for the highest-ever bookings for any of its models—a number likely to climb even further.

Deliveries for the Thar Roxx are set to begin on Dusshera, Saturday, October 12, 2024. Following the initial rollouts, Mahindra will notify customers of their estimated delivery schedules over the next three weeks. In response to customer feedback, the carmaker has also introduced a new brown interior color option, which is expected to be more practical than the original white. However, deliveries for the brown-interior variant will begin later, in January 2025.

To meet the overwhelming demand, Mahindra has committed to a production target of 6,500 units per month for the Thar Roxx, with the potential for increased output depending on interest levels and adjustments across its model lineup.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Engine Options and Specifications

The Thar Roxx is available in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol version is offered exclusively in 2WD and is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with two outputs—162hp and 330Nm for the manual variant, and 177hp and 380Nm for the automatic.

All 4×2 diesel variants are equipped with a 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 152hp and 330Nm, regardless of whether they come with a manual or automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the 4WD versions also run on a 2.2-litre diesel engine, but output varies—producing 152hp and 330Nm in the 6-speed manual and 175hp and 370Nm in the 6-speed automatic.
