Mahindra is gearing up to launch the highly-anticipated Thar 5-door, officially named the Thar Roxx, in India on August 15. This new model is expected to be a significant addition to Mahindra’s SUV lineup.

Exterior:
- The Thar Roxx will feature a distinct six-slot double-stacked grille, differentiating it from the seven-slot design of the 3-door Thar.
- Circular headlamps with an LED projector setup and C-shaped DRLs.

Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be available. The SUV will come in standard rear-wheel-drive and a 4WD setup, similar to the current Thar 3-door model.
Market Position and Pricing
The Thar Roxx will be positioned above the Thar 3-door in Mahindra’s portfolio, with production already underway. Unofficial bookings have started at the dealer level, and the expected price is around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
Competitors
The Thar Roxx will directly rival the Force Gurkha 5-door and the Maruti Jimny. It will also compete with mid-size SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
