Powertrain and Performance
The biggest talking point of the new ES is its fully electric 500e variant. It comes equipped with a 74.68kWh battery pack paired with dual electric motors—one on each axle—delivering all-wheel drive capability.
The front motor produces 227hp and 267Nm, while the rear motor generates 120hp and 170Nm. Combined output stands at an impressive 343hp and 438Nm, enabling the luxury sedan to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds.
Lexus claims a driving range of up to 580km on a single charge. Charging options include an 11kW AC home charger, while a 150kW DC fast charger can replenish the battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 28 minutes. The EV also comes with an 8-year/200,000 km warranty for both the battery and vehicle.
Hybrid Variant Coming Soon
Alongside the EV, Lexus will also offer the ES in a petrol-hybrid form (ES 350h), with prices to be announced later. This version will use a 2.5-litre petrol engine combined with an electric motor, producing a total system output of 247hp.
Design and Exterior
The new-generation ES adopts Lexus’ ‘Provocative Simplicity’ design philosophy, giving it a more futuristic and aggressive stance. The traditional spindle grille has been replaced with a cleaner, closed-off front typical of EVs.
Key design elements include:
- Signature twin L-shaped LED DRLs
- Coupe-like sloping roofline
- 21-inch aero-optimised wheels
- Connected LED tail-lamp with ‘Lexus’ lettering
The sedan is now significantly larger than before, measuring 5,145mm in length with a 2,950mm wheelbase, enhancing both road presence and interior space.
Interior and Features
Inside, the ES showcases a minimalist yet premium cabin under Lexus’ “Clean Tech x Elegance” theme. The layout focuses on space, technology, and comfort.

Rivals and Market Position
The new Lexus ES continues to compete with luxury sedans like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, and Audi A6. However, it stands out as the only fully electric option in this segment, giving it a unique edge in India’s evolving luxury EV market.
Final Take
With the launch of the ES 500e, Lexus has taken a significant step toward electrification in India. Combining strong performance, long range, premium features, and distinctive design, the ES 500e positions itself as a compelling alternative for buyers looking to shift to electric mobility without compromising on luxury.
