KTM has announced a new global warranty programme that will significantly benefit buyers of its street-legal motorcycles. The Austrian brand has confirmed that all road-going KTM bikes manufactured from model year (MY) 2025 onwards will now come with a standard 4-year warranty, doubling the previous coverage period.
This move is part of KTM’s broader strategy to strengthen customer confidence and reinforce its position in the global performance motorcycle market.
4-Year Warranty Now Standard on KTM Road Bikes
Under the newly introduced warranty programme, every KTM motorcycle designed for road use will be covered for four years from the date of purchase. Earlier, most KTM road bikes were offered with a standard two-year warranty, meaning the new policy effectively doubles the protection period for buyers.
The updated warranty applies across KTM’s entire road-legal portfolio, which ranges from 125cc entry-level motorcycles to high-performance models with engines as large as 1,350cc.
Importantly, the programme includes:
-
Single-cylinder motorcycles produced by Bajaj in India
-
Twin-cylinder and larger capacity models manufactured globally
-
All street-legal KTM motorcycles produced from MY2025 onwards
However, off-road motorcycles and track-only machines will not be covered under this extended warranty plan.
Warranty Linked to the Motorcycle, Not the Owner
One of the key highlights of KTM’s new warranty structure is that the coverage is tied to the motorcycle rather than the owner. This means that if the bike is sold during the four-year period, the remaining warranty will automatically transfer to the next owner.
To retain coverage, the motorcycle must be serviced regularly at authorised KTM dealerships, ensuring proper maintenance and service history.
This transferable warranty could also boost resale value, making KTM motorcycles more attractive in the used bike market.
Addressing Past Reliability Concerns
In recent years, some KTM twin-cylinder motorcycles — particularly the 790 and 890 series — faced scrutiny due to reported issues related to premature camshaft wear. KTM has since worked to address these reliability concerns.
The introduction of a longer warranty period is widely seen as a confidence-building measure, reassuring customers about the brand’s product quality and durability.
A Step Toward Rebuilding Momentum
KTM has faced financial and operational challenges in the recent past, but the company continues to roll out initiatives aimed at strengthening its brand presence globally. The new 4-year warranty programme reflects KTM’s commitment to improving ownership experience and restoring buyer trust.
For customers considering a KTM motorcycle, this extended warranty adds an extra layer of peace of mind — especially in the performance bike segment where reliability and service support are key factors in purchase decisions.
