Kia is gearing up for the global debut of its new compact SUV, the Syros, on December 19. As anticipation builds, the brand has released a teaser offering a glimpse of the SUV’s interior, confirming several features previously spotted in spy images while unveiling some fresh details.
Modern Steering and Terrain Modes
The Syros’ cabin is headlined by a distinctive two-spoke steering wheel, similar to the one in the Kia EV3. Featuring Kia’s updated off-center logo, the steering wheel integrates multiple controls for the infotainment system. A standout feature is the “Terrain Modes” button, hinting at a system akin to the traction modes in the larger Seltos. This likely includes settings for Mud, Snow/Wet, and Sand to enhance grip across various conditions.
High-Tech Dashboard and Features
The teaser showcases a portion of the Syros’ dashboard, revealing a layered design. It hints at premium features like a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster, expected to be available in higher trims. An automatic transmission gear selector is visible, along with buttons for push-to-start ignition, parking sensors, and camera controls. The top-tier variants are expected to offer a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, a panoramic sunroof, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Additional amenities include a wireless smartphone charging pad, two USB-C ports in the center console, and a clean, minimalist layout.
Engine and Future Electric Variant
Under the hood, the Syros will be powered by a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol or a 1.5-liter diesel engine, both paired with automatic gearbox options. Unlike the Sonet, which shares the compact SUV segment with the Syros, the latter will not feature the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. An all-electric variant is slated to join the lineup approximately six months after the launch of the petrol and diesel models. Pricing details for the Syros are expected to be revealed in January during the Bharat Mobility Global Expo.
Positioned Between Sonet and Seltos
The Syros is set to fill the gap between the Sonet and the Seltos in Kia’s India lineup, offering a spacious and feature-rich alternative in the compact SUV category. More updates about the Syros are expected in the coming days, keeping the excitement alive as the launch date nears.
