Kia Carens CNG Launched in India at ₹11.77 Lakh — Brand’s First CNG Offering

Kia Carens CNG Launched

Kia India has officially entered the CNG segment with the launch of the Carens CNG, priced at ₹11.77 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks Kia’s debut in the growing CNG vehicle market, catering to buyers who want a practical, spacious MPV with lower running costs.

Kia Carens CNG: Price and Variant Details

The CNG option is offered on the Premium (O) variant of the Kia Carens. The factory petrol version is priced at ₹10.99 lakh, while the CNG kit adds ₹77,900 as a dealer-level fitment. This makes the Carens CNG an attractive choice for both private buyers and fleet operators looking for a 7-seater with improved fuel efficiency.

Dealer-Fitted CNG Kit and Warranty

Unlike factory-fitted CNG cars, the Kia Carens CNG gets a dealer-installed kit supplied by Lovato, a well-known Italian CNG system manufacturer. The kit comes with a 3-year / 1,00,000 km third-party warranty.
It’s important to note that since this is not a factory homologated version, Kia has not disclosed official performance or mileage figures for the CNG variant.

The CNG setup is paired with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 115hp and 144Nm in standard petrol form. As with most CNG conversions, a slight dip in power and torque output can be expected when running on CNG.

Kia Carens Premium (O): Features and Equipment

The Carens CNG is offered in the Premium (O) trim — the most feature-rich version available for the entry-level Carens. Standard features include:

Kia has not revealed how much boot space will be compromised due to the CNG cylinder installation. The standard petrol and diesel versions of the Carens offer 216 litres of luggage capacity.

Safety Features and Crash Rating

Safety has been one of Carens’ strong points. The MPV continues to offer an extensive list of safety features, including:

The Kia Carens has been tested by Global NCAP and received a 3-star safety rating for both adult and child occupant protection.

Carens vs Carens Clavis: Why Kia Sells Both

Kia currently sells two versions of the MPV — the Carens and the Carens Clavis. The standard Carens continues as a value-oriented 7-seater aimed at families and fleet buyers, while the new Carens Clavis serves as a more premium and feature-rich alternative.

The introduction of a CNG option makes the Carens even more appealing to customers prioritizing low running costs over performance, especially for fleet and taxi segments.

Dealer-Level CNG Cars in India

The Kia Carens CNG joins a growing list of models available with dealer-fitted CNG kits. Other cars offering similar flexibility include:

These CNG kits, like the one on the Carens, are typically sourced from reputed suppliers such as Lovato or BRC and backed by third-party warranties.
