JSW MG Surges to Second Place in India’s Luxury EV Market on the Back of Cyberster and M9 Sales

JSW MG Surges to Second Place in India’s Luxury EV Market

JSW MG Motor India has climbed to the second position in India’s luxury electric vehicle (EV) segment as per Vahan registration data for September 2025. The brand’s strong performance is primarily driven by the MG Cyberster electric roadster and the MG M9 Presidential Limousine, both of which have quickly gained traction among luxury EV buyers.

According to the company, both premium models have witnessed robust demand, with a waiting period of three to four months across most markets. Since its introduction in July 2025, MG has sold 256 units of the Cyberster through its dedicated MG Select retail network — a testament to the car’s growing appeal among performance-oriented EV enthusiasts.

Milind Shah, Interim Head of MG Select, said the brand’s recent rise reflects “strong customer interest in distinctive and premium electric mobility experiences.” He added that MG’s new-age EV portfolio is resonating with buyers seeking exclusivity, technology, and design innovation.

Speaking to PTI, Shah highlighted the company’s long-term ambitions in the luxury segment.

“The Indian luxury car market has a noticeable gap in the ₹50 lakh to ₹1 crore range — especially between ₹50 lakh and ₹80 lakh. MG is strategically positioned to bridge that gap through our value-luxury proposition,” he noted.

To strengthen its premium presence, JSW MG has opened 14 MG Select Experience Centres across key Indian cities. These flagship showrooms showcase the Cyberster and M9 alongside other high-end MG models, offering personalised purchase consultations, immersive digital experiences, and dedicated after-sales support.

With this momentum, JSW MG is now eyeing the top spot in India’s luxury EV market, as the brand continues to expand its footprint and introduce more premium electric models tailored to Indian preferences.
