Jaguar Land Rover India has said that the new Range Rover Sport SV will be shown off on May 31. The replacement for the Range Rover Sport SVR will start out as a limited-edition model that will only be available by request. The company says it is the fastest and most high-tech Range Rover Sport ever made.
The company has shared a teaser video of the SUV going through official testing and development, showing its high-performance and all-terrain capabilities. The model is expected to come with a number of world-first features and sector-first technologies that will help it reach its full performance potential.
In the teaser video, you can see a disguised test mule in Nardo, Italy, going through different terrains. The model can be seen running smoothly on a track, sand dunes, desert, water, and snow. This shows how well the SUV can work.
Land Rover hasn’t said anything else about the model’s specs, but compared to its predecessor, it’s likely to have more speed. When it comes out, it will compete hard with cars like the Lamborghini Urus Performante and the Aston Martin DBX707.
The old JLR Range Rover SVR had the company’s own supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine, but stricter emissions laws make it unlikely that the same engine willA be in the new SV. The regular Range Rover Sport already uses BMW’s N63 engine, so the top-of-the-line model might also use a BMW powertrain.
In a different development, Jaguar Land Rover recently announced that it won’t start taking orders for the Range Rover EV until 2023, even though it’s supposed to come out in 2025. The Range Rover EV will be a key part of the company’s plan to move toward electric vehicles. This new Range Rover EV will be made at the automaker’s Halewood plant. As part of its Reimagine strategy, which calls for an $18.6 billion investment, the company is turning Halewood into an all-electric production plant.
