Hyundai Motor India has announced an ambitious expansion plan for its CNG portfolio as part of its long-term growth strategy. During its recent Investors Day presentation, the automaker confirmed that it will introduce three new CNG-powered models by 2030, effectively doubling its current CNG lineup from three to six vehicles.
Hyundai’s Expanding CNG Vision for India
The Korean automaker is aiming for 20 percent of its total sales to come from CNG cars by FY2030, up from the current 13 percent share in FY2025. This move is part of Hyundai’s broader plan to launch 26 new models by the end of the decade, including all-new vehicles, facelifts, and alternate fuel variants.
Current Hyundai CNG Cars in India
At present, Hyundai offers CNG powertrains on three models:

Aura CNG

Exter CNG
All three use the brand’s 1.2-litre, four-cylinder engine, tuned to produce 69hp and 95Nm when running on CNG, and paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Upcoming Hyundai CNG Models: What to Expect
While Hyundai hasn’t revealed which specific models will receive CNG options next, there are several strong contenders:

Hyundai i20 CNG – Given that rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, and Tata Altroz already offer factory-fitted CNG kits, it’s highly likely that Hyundai will equip the i20 with a similar setup.

Hyundai Venue CNG – With compact SUV competitors like the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Maruti Fronx, and Toyota Taisor offering CNG options, the Venue is a natural candidate to join the lineup.

Bayon-based Crossover (Fronx Rival) – Expected to debut in India by 2026, this upcoming crossover will share its platform with the i20 and feature a more SUV-like design. It could also be offered with a CNG variant alongside the all-new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Hyundai’s CNG push is part of a larger product strategy that includes the introduction of hybrid, EV, and alternate-fuel models across multiple segments. With growing consumer demand for affordable, efficient, and cleaner fuel options, expanding its CNG portfolio will help Hyundai strengthen its presence in the mass-market space.
