Hyundai slashes prices by up to ₹2.4 lakh after GST rate cut

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has confirmed a significant price revision across its passenger vehicle portfolio, following the Union government’s decision to lower GST rates on automobiles. The revised prices will take effect from September 22, 2025, when the new GST regime is officially implemented.

Price benefits across the range

According to Hyundai, the price reductions will vary across models, starting from a cut of ₹73,808 on the Grand i10 Nios and extending up to ₹2,40,303 on the flagship Tucson SUV. Mid-range and popular models such as the Venue, Creta, Verna, i20, and Alcazar will also see substantial reductions, making them more attractive in their respective segments.

Boosting accessibility ahead of festive demand

The company said it is fully passing on the benefits of the revised GST rates to customers, with the aim of making Hyundai cars more affordable. The timing of the revision aligns with the upcoming festive season, which traditionally sees a surge in automobile demand. Hyundai expects the move to not only strengthen its sales momentum but also encourage first-time buyers and upgraders to consider premium models.

Industry-wide ripple effect

Hyundai’s announcement follows similar price revisions by other leading automakers, as the Indian car market gears up for a fresh wave of demand spurred by the new tax regime. Experts suggest that such significant price reductions could shift customer preference towards higher trims or larger vehicles, as models that were previously out of budget will now become more accessible.

Hyundai’s market outlook

Commenting on the development, a Hyundai spokesperson said the company remains committed to offering maximum value to customers:

“By passing on the full benefit of GST rate reduction, we are ensuring that our vehicles remain within reach of a wider set of customers. This move comes at the right time, giving buyers more reasons to celebrate this festive season with a new Hyundai.”

With this strategic step, Hyundai not only strengthens its competitive position in the Indian market but also underscores its customer-first approach at a time when affordability plays a key role in purchase decisions.
