The Ioniq 5 for India has two battery packs: 58 kWh and 72.6 kWh, which can go up to 481 km (WLTP). It’s important to know that India is the only place where you can get the bigger battery pack for the Kia EV6, which is built on the same platform. With the 58kWh battery pack, the Hyundai EV is more appealing to a wider range of customers and costs less to get into.
It can charge quickly at up to 350kW, but that won’t be possible in India for a while. Using a 50kW charger, the smaller battery can be charged from 0% to 80% in 44 minutes, and the larger battery can be charged from 0% to 100% in an hour. With the 350kW fast charger, both battery packs can be charged from 0% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
Comfort and Safety
The inside of the Ioniq 5 is simple and futuristic at the same time. It has dual integrated 12.3-inch displays (infotainment system and driver’s display), a panoramic sunroof, cameras instead of ORVMs with displays on the inside, ventilated front seats and heated back seats, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and wireless phone charging.
The inside of the Ioniq 5 is made of materials that are good for the environment. The company that made the car used bio paint, a fabric made from recycled plastic that is good for the environment, and eco-friendly leather for the seats.
On the safety side, it has up to seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), a 360-degree camera, and level two ADAS features like lane follow assist, lane keep assist, forward collision avoidance, blind spot collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, and adaptive cruise control.
Price and Competitors
Even though prices haven’t been released yet, it’s likely that they will start at Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Ioniq 5 will come out in early 2023. It will compete with cars like the Kia EV6 and Volvo XC40 Recharge.
