Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the all-electric INSTER, a new A-segment sub-compact EV, at the 2024 Busan International Mobility Show. The INSTER features a unique design, segment-leading driving range, versatility, and advanced technology.
Bold Exterior Design
The INSTER combines a futuristic and innovative image with a spacious interior within a compact SUV body. It offers a driving range of up to 355 km, positioning it as a leader in its segment. Its design, inspired by the Korea-only petrol-powered CASPER, includes an extended body and wheelbase for increased interior space and a rugged road presence.
The INSTER’s exterior boasts strong fenders, a high-tech bumper, and a bold skid plate. LED daytime running lights, pixel-graphic turn signals, and LED projection headlamps add to its distinctive look. It also offers two-tone exterior options and wheel choices ranging from 15-inch steel to 17-inch alloy.
Versatile and Advanced Interior
Inside, the INSTER features a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation, and a wireless charging dock. The pixel theme is repeated in the interior graphics, and customizable upper door trim garnishes allow for further personalization.
The INSTER offers flexible seating options, including fold-flat seats and a front bench seat. Heated front seats and steering wheel, a variety of interior color choices, and the use of sustainable materials such as recycled PET and bio-polypropylene enhance the vehicle’s eco-friendly appeal.
Performance and Charging
The INSTER is equipped with a 42 kWh battery, with an optional Long-Range 49 kWh battery. It offers a projected range of up to 355 km on a single charge. The vehicle supports fast charging, capable of reaching 80% charge in around 30 minutes using a 120 kW DC High-Power charging station. It also includes an 11 kW on-board charger, a battery heating system, and a high-efficiency heat pump.
Cutting-Edge Technology and Safety
The INSTER is packed with advanced safety and driver assistance features. These include a Surround View Monitor, Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist Rear, Blind-spot View Monitor, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Warning, Smart Cruise Control, Highway Driving Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Driver Attention Warning, High Beam Assist, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, and Rear Occupant Alert.
Global Rollout and Future Models
The INSTER will launch in Korea this summer, followed by releases in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. An additional variant, the INSTER CROSS, featuring a more rugged, outdoor-focused design, will be introduced later.
