Hyundai Creta EV to Debut on January 17 at Bharat Mobility Show 2025

Hyundai Creta EV to Debut on January 17

Hyundai is set to unveil the much-anticipated Creta EV on January 17, 2025, coinciding with the first day of the Bharat Mobility Show. The electric version of the popular SUV will take center stage at Hyundai’s exhibit alongside the Ioniq 9 EV, promising to be a key highlight of the event.

Creta EV to Challenge Tata, Mahindra, and Maruti EVs

The Hyundai Creta EV will enter a competitive segment, taking on rivals like the Mahindra BE 6e (likely to be renamed the BE 6), Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and Maruti’s upcoming e-Vitara—which will also make its first public appearance at the same show.

Design and Features: Evolution Over Revolution

Hyundai is expected to adopt an evolutionary design approach for the Creta EV, retaining much of its ICE-powered sibling’s styling. Key exterior updates will include a closed-off grille, redesigned bumpers, and refreshed alloy wheels, signaling its electric identity.

Inside the cabin, the Creta EV will sport subtle but impactful changes, such as a three-spoke steering wheel, a new drive selector near the steering column, and a reworked center console featuring dual cup holders and controls for the electronic parking brake, cooled seats, auto-hold, and a 360-degree camera. Elements like the HVAC controls will be shared with the facelifted Hyundai Alcazar.

The Creta EV will retain the familiar twin-screen layout for the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster but with software enhancements and EV-specific features. Hyundai is also likely to retain physical controls for improved user accessibility.

Battery, Range, and Performance

Under the hood, the Creta EV will feature a 45kWh battery pack, placing it in line with the base Tata Curvv EV (45kWh) but slightly behind competitors like the MG ZS EV (50.3kWh) and Maruti’s eVX (expected 49-61kWh). Powering the Creta EV will be a single front-mounted motor producing 138hp and 255Nm of torque, borrowing its powertrain from the latest Kona EV, which is not currently available in India.

Production and Pricing

Hyundai plans to manufacture approximately 24,000 units annually of the Creta EV, signaling its confidence in the growing demand for electric SUVs in India. Competitive pricing is expected when the Creta EV officially goes on sale next month, strengthening Hyundai’s position in the evolving EV market.
