Hyundai and TVS Collaborate to Develop Micro Electric Vehicles in India

Hyundai and TVS Collaborate

Hyundai Motor Company and TVS Motor have joined forces to revolutionize India’s electric vehicle (EV) landscape. The partnership aims to create micro electric three-wheelers and four-wheelers tailored to Indian mobility needs, combining Hyundai’s expertise in design and technology with TVS’s manufacturing and market reach.

At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the duo unveiled two innovative micro-mobility concepts: the E3W (electric three-wheeler) and E4W (electric four-wheeler). These prototypes highlight versatility and sustainability, with applications ranging from passenger and cargo transport to emergency response services.

The E3W is a modern take on the classic motor rickshaw, designed for efficiency and adaptability, while the E4W offers a compact, e-rickshaw-inspired design featuring a wider windshield for improved visibility. Both vehicles emphasize user-centric features, such as enhanced collision safety, wheelchair access, and durable materials. Innovations like a flat floor above a long wheelbase and heat-resistant roof paint aim to enhance comfort and practicality in India’s diverse climate. Additionally, a front display screen allows dynamic messaging, reminiscent of public buses in major cities.

SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai and Genesis Global Design, emphasized Hyundai’s commitment to customer-focused innovation:
“Hyundai’s mission is to craft mobility solutions that resonate with India’s unique needs. Through this collaboration with TVS Motor, we aim to locally manufacture the E3W while exploring international opportunities for the E4W.”

The partnership also envisions global scalability, with the electric four-wheeler under review for broader markets. By integrating cutting-edge technology with Indian ingenuity, Hyundai and TVS are poised to redefine sustainable urban mobility.
