The Hero XPulse 400 is generating excitement as Hero MotoCorp’s next big ADV (Adventure) motorcycle. Recently spotted in multiple testing phases, this anticipated model is expected to debut at EICMA 2024, along with the Hero XPulse 210. Here’s everything we know so far and what we can expect from this all-new adventure machine.
Design & Style
The XPulse 400 embraces a classic ADV aesthetic, featuring a tall, rugged profile that includes a raised front fender, wide handlebars, and substantial tank extensions. The tail section appears broader than previous models, hinting at a well-balanced mix of form and function. In keeping with the ADV tradition, the bike also sports a high-mounted exhaust, reminiscent of the outgoing XPulse 200 4V, which enhances its off-road capabilities.
Engine & Performance
Powering the XPulse 400 is expected to be the same 440cc, air and oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine seen on the Hero Maverick 440, although with a few ADV-focused tweaks. The engine currently produces 27 PS of power and 37 Nm of torque in the Maverick. To make the XPulse 400 more adept for off-road adventures, Hero may adjust gearing, possibly adding a larger rear sprocket for improved bottom-end torque, giving it a leg up in low-rev power delivery essential for challenging terrains.
Wheels & Tyres
Spy shots indicate that the XPulse 400 will ride on large spoke wheels, likely featuring a 21-inch front and a 17-inch rear setup with dual-purpose tyres, which will offer a good balance between on-road stability and off-road grip.
Features & Technology
A fully digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity is anticipated, potentially offering features such as call and SMS alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, and more. Off-road enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the XPulse 400 could also come with switchable ABS at the rear, allowing for controlled rear-wheel slides when tackling trails.
Expected Pricing & Rivals
With a potential launch in India by mid-2025, the Hero XPulse 400 could carry an ex-showroom price of around Rs 2.4 lakh. This price point would position it as a strong competitor to other 300-400cc ADVs, such as the Yezdi Adventure and the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. With the discontinuation of the Himalayan 411, the XPulse 400 is poised to fill a notable gap in the long-stroke, torque-oriented ADV market.
Hero’s Plans for EICMA 2024
Alongside the XPulse 400, Hero MotoCorp recently announced plans to unveil four new models at EICMA 2024, signaling an ambitious expansion of their lineup and a commitment to the adventure segment.
The XPulse 400 appears ready to redefine Hero’s ADV offerings, packing more power, advanced features, and a robust design that could win over adventure enthusiasts. As the release date approaches, anticipation continues to build for what could be a game-changer in the mid-capacity ADV market.
