Force Motors has teased the return of the Force Gurkha, reintroducing both the three-door and five-door variants. The three-door model was discontinued due to BS6 Phase II norms in April 2023, but now both models are set to make a comeback in the coming weeks.
Design Highlights
The latest teaser reveals that the five-door Gurkha will feature square headlamps like its three-door counterpart, along with a two-slat grille bearing the Gurkha nameplate. Notably, the longer wheelbase of the five-door model (2,825mm) accommodates the rear doors, distinguishing it from the shorter three-door variant.
Interior Details
The primary difference between the two models will be their seating configurations. The three-door Gurkha is a four-seater, whereas the five-door will offer multiple layouts: five-seater, six-seater, and seven-seater configurations. Spy shots indicate the five-door will come with a shift-on-the-fly 4WD knob, enhancing its off-road capabilities.
Powertrain
Both the Gurkha three-door and five-door will retain the Mercedes-sourced 2.6-litre diesel engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Performance figures are yet to be disclosed, but the previous Gurkha 3-door boasted 91hp and 250Nm of torque.
Launch Timeline, Price, and Competitors
The Force Gurkha 3-door and 5-door are slated for launch in India soon. The 3-door will compete with vehicles like the Mahindra Thar, while the 5-door variant will challenge upcoming models like the Thar 5-door (possibly named Thar Armada) and the Maruti Jimny. The expected price range for the new Gurkha models suggests a slight premium over their predecessors, with the five-door likely priced between Rs 16.10-16.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
