Citroen C3 CNG Launched in India at ₹7.16 Lakh

Citroen C3 CNG Launched

Citroen India has introduced a CNG-powered version of its C3 hatchback, with prices starting at ₹7.16 lakh (ex-showroom). Unlike a factory-fitted CNG setup, this version comes equipped with a dealer-installed Lovato CNG kit, costing ₹93,000 over the corresponding petrol variant.

Engine and Performance

The C3 CNG is powered by the familiar 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which delivers 82 hp and 115 Nm of torque in standard form. While Citroen hasn’t disclosed the exact output figures when running on CNG, it claims an ARAI-certified mileage of 28.1 km/kg. The powertrain is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard.

To maintain comfort, Citroen has also upgraded the rear suspension for the CNG-equipped models to ensure the ride quality remains consistent with the petrol versions.

CNG Kit and Fuel Efficiency

The Lovato-sourced CNG system features a single cylinder with a water-equivalent capacity of 55 litres. On a full tank, the C3 CNG is expected to offer a real-world driving range of approximately 170–200 km. Citroen offers the same 3-year/1 lakh km warranty on CNG components as it does for the petrol variants.

Variants and Pricing

The C3 CNG is offered in four variants:

Prices range from ₹7.16 lakh to ₹9.24 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes the C3 CNG a more premium option compared to hatchbacks like the Maruti Wagon R CNG, but it remains more affordable than compact SUVs like the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter, which also offer CNG options.

Price Comparison (Ex-showroom, in ₹ lakh)

Model Price Range
C3 CNG 7.16 – 9.24
Wagon R CNG 6.89 – 7.13
Punch CNG 7.30 – 10.00
Exter CNG 8.63 – 9.53

While the Citroen C3 CNG carries a slight premium over some hatchback rivals, it offers a unique blend of space, ride comfort, and European styling, now combined with the efficiency of CNG.
