BMW has introduced the Concept F 450 GS, an exciting preview of an upcoming small-capacity adventure bike.
Key Features and Performance
The Concept F 450 GS is expected to house a single-cylinder engine around the 450cc mark, generating an impressive 48 horsepower. Designed with agility and power in mind, the bike weighs approximately 175 kg, offering a balance of lightness and stability for adventurous riders.
Innovative Engineering
One standout feature of this engine is its unique firing order. While most BMW F-series bikes use a 270-degree crank in their twin-cylinder engines, the F 450 GS adopts a groundbreaking firing sequence, promising a smooth yet responsive torque delivery from low revs. This setup hints at an experience similar to engines with a 270-degree crank, like KTM’s 285-degree firing order, but with BMW’s distinctive twist.
Design and Equipment
Visually, the Concept F 450 GS draws inspiration from the larger R 1300 GS, with a familiar headlight design and a robust, 6.5-inch TFT dash. It also comes with premium features like cross-spoke wheels and fully adjustable suspension. However, how much of this design and equipment will make it to the production model—set for a 2025 release—remains to be seen.
The Concept F 450 GS signals BMW’s commitment to expanding its adventure lineup with innovative, lightweight, and capable machines tailored for modern explorers.
