BMW Motorrad has unveiled its latest offerings in India: the R 12 and R 12 nineT roadster models, priced at Rs 19.90 lakh and Rs 20.90 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
Engine and Performance
Both motorcycles are powered by a 1,170cc air/oil-cooled boxer engine, producing 110hp at 7,000rpm and 115Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. This engine places the bikes in direct competition with the Triumph Speed Twin and the Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster.
Design and Features
- BMW R 12 nineT: Features an aluminium tank with brushed side panels, full-LED lighting, an adaptive LED headlamp, and advanced electronics including traction control, cornering ABS, engine braking control, keyless ignition, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
- BMW R 12: Showcases a steel tank reminiscent of the 1970s BMW /5 models, maintaining the same high-tech lighting and electronic features as the nineT.
Riding Modes and Wheels
The R 12 nineT comes with “Rain,” “Road,” and “Dynamic” riding modes, whereas the R 12 offers “Roll” and “Rock” modes. Both models are equipped with 17-inch wheels, a 45mm USD fork at the front, and a paralever swingarm at the rear. Braking is handled by 310mm discs at the front and a single 265mm rotor at the rear.
Optional Comfort Package
The optional Comfort Package enhances the riding experience with features like Hill Start Control Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, heated grips, and cruise control.
These new additions to BMW’s heritage motorcycle range blend classic retro design with modern technology, making them a compelling choice for enthusiasts in the Indian market.
