Bajaj Auto has introduced the most affordable variant of its Chetak e-scooter, the Chetak 2901, priced at Rs 95,998 (ex-showroom India). Targeted at a younger demographic, this new model features five vibrant colors and maintains a robust metal body.
Design and Features
The Chetak 2901 shares its design with the rest of the Chetak range but omits some features to keep costs low. Notably, it comes with steel wheels and offers a single riding mode. However, buyers can opt for the TecPac package, priced at Rs 3,000, which adds two riding modes (Eco and Sport), a reverse mode, hill-hold assist, alloy wheels, and more.
Technology and Performance
Despite earlier spy images suggesting a monotone LCD, the Chetak 2901 is equipped with the same color LCD display found on the Chetak Urbane. It also comes with an off-board charger, similar to the Urbane model, while the Chetak Premium is the only variant that includes an on-board charger.
The e-scooter is powered by a 2.9 kWh battery, promising a range of 123 km on a full charge. The top speed is limited to 63 kph, and the charging time is approximately six hours.
Market Positioning
With its competitive pricing and robust feature set, the Bajaj Chetak 2901 is positioned to compete with rivals such as the TVS iQube 2.2, Ather Rizta S, and Ola S1 Air. By offering a full metal body and modern technology at an attractive price point, Bajaj aims to capture a significant share of the burgeoning e-scooter market.
