Ather Nears 4 Lakh Sales Milestone, Eyes 5 Lakh Mark by Year-End

Ather Energy, the Bengaluru-based electric scooter manufacturer, is riding a strong wave of momentum in 2025. The company has now sold over 4.02 lakh units cumulatively, with 16,231 units delivered in July 2025 alone, according to data from the Vahan portal. That makes this July one of the strongest months in Ather’s sales history—just 17 units shy of its second-best month ever in October 2024.

With a few pending registrations still being processed, July 2025 may even surpass October, potentially securing the spot as Ather’s second-highest monthly sales to date. The company’s all-time monthly high remains March 2024, when it clocked 17,430 units, driven by the surge in demand ahead of the FAME II subsidy rollback.

Rizta Leads the Charge, Makes Up 60% of Sales

A major contributor to Ather’s growing numbers is its family-centric electric scooter, the Rizta. Introduced in April 2024, the Rizta has quickly become the company’s best-selling model, now accounting for more than 60 percent of monthly volumes. Remarkably, it crossed the 1 lakh units sold mark in just over a year, making it one of the fastest-selling products in Ather’s lineup.

Strong First Half in 2025 Positions Ather for a Record Year

Ather has already sold 98,004 units between January and July 2025, representing a significant leap compared to its past annual performances. To put this into perspective, these seven months alone contribute to 77 percent of its total sales in calendar year 2024.

If Ather maintains a similar sales trajectory for the remaining five months of the year—especially with the festive season approaching—the company could easily breach the 5 lakh cumulative sales mark by the end of 2025.

Growing Market Share in India’s 2W EV Space

Ather’s consistent performance has also translated into increasing dominance in the electric two-wheeler segment. Its market share has grown from 8 percent in CY22 to 14 percent as of now, reinforcing the brand’s rising influence in the EV sector.

While Ather continues to see strong competition from brands like Ola Electric, TVS, Bajaj, and Vida (Hero), the company’s steady sales momentum and product-focused strategy have helped it retain a loyal and expanding customer base.

Upcoming EL Platform to Widen Appeal

Looking ahead, Ather is preparing for its next big launch. The company is set to unveil its new ‘EL platform’ on August 30, 2025, which will introduce a more affordable electric scooter to compete with offerings priced below the ₹1 lakh mark. This will be Ather’s response to budget-friendly models from rivals that currently dominate the entry-level EV market.

The new platform is expected to make Ather’s scooters more accessible to a wider range of buyers, further accelerating its growth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets.

Final Thoughts

Ather Energy’s upward trajectory continues in 2025, thanks largely to the success of the Rizta and sustained consumer interest in premium electric scooters. With a strong portfolio, growing market share, and an upcoming budget EV offering, Ather is on track to achieve its next big milestone—half a million cumulative sales by the end of this year.

Stay tuned for updates on Ather’s EL platform launch and more developments in the fast-evolving two-wheeler EV space.
