Aston Martin’s highly anticipated new Vantage, priced at Rs 3.99 crore (ex-showroom), made its India debut today, with deliveries confirmed to start in the fourth quarter of 2024. This latest iteration of Aston Martin’s iconic sports coupe features extensive exterior redesigns and significant interior upgrades.
Performance and Powertrain
Under the hood, the new Vantage houses a formidable 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, sourced from Mercedes-AMG, now upgraded to deliver 665hp and 800Nm of torque. Power is channeled to the rear wheels through an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. With a 0-100 kph acceleration time of just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 325 kph, the Vantage matches the performance of the outgoing V12 variant. For context, the previous model offered 510hp and 685Nm.
Exterior Design
Visually, the new Vantage exudes a more aggressive stance compared to its predecessor. A dominant front grille spans nearly the entire width of the front bumper, flanked by newly designed intakes and a pronounced bonnet character line, evoking a subtle resemblance to the One-77 supercar.
The side profile reveals slightly redesigned air ducts on the fenders, while the rear showcases a more assertive bumper and diffuser setup. The car is now 30mm wider, enhancing its overall stance, and features new frameless mirrors and flush electronic door handles for a sleek look.
Interior Upgrades
Inside, the Vantage takes inspiration from the DB12, offering a completely reimagined cockpit focused on connectivity, engagement, and refinement. Moving away from its previous Mercedes influences, the Vantage now boasts an in-house developed infotainment system with a 10.25-inch touchscreen. This bespoke system includes features like 3D live mapping and wireless smartphone mirroring.
While embracing digital advancements, Aston Martin remains committed to physical controls, retaining them for essential functions such as climate control, gear selection, and drive mode switches. The new interior also introduces an all-new steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, and marked improvements in overall quality and finish.
Rivals and Market Position
The new Aston Martin Vantage will compete with the likes of the Bentley Continental GT and Porsche 911, standing out with its blend of British elegance, cutting-edge technology, and exhilarating performance.
