A few months after its global debut at EICMA 2024, Aprilia has officially launched the Tuono 457 in India at ₹3.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). This sport-naked motorcycle is mechanically similar to the fully-faired RS 457 but features a distinct design and subtle tweaks to enhance its street-focused appeal.
Engine & Performance
Powering the Tuono 457 is the same 457cc parallel-twin engine from the RS 457, delivering 47.6hp and 43.5Nm of torque. It comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring a slip-and-assist clutch, while a bi-directional quickshifter is available as an optional extra. In typical Aprilia fashion, the Tuono 457 also shares its frame, suspension, brakes, and electronics with its faired sibling.
Key Design Differences
Despite its similarities with the RS 457, the Tuono 457 stands out with a unique design. Instead of Aprilia’s signature tri-bulb headlamp setup, it gets a sleek LED headlight flanked by sharp DRLs. Additionally, the Tuono’s fuel tank capacity is slightly reduced to 12.7 litres, compared to the 13-litre tank on the RS 457. However, both bikes have an identical 175kg kerb weight.
Another notable difference is the Tuono’s shorter gearing, achieved through a larger rear sprocket with one additional tooth compared to the RS 457.
Colors & Availability
The Tuono 457 is available in two striking color options:
- A bold red/black combination
- A more understated white/grey scheme
Bookings are now open, with deliveries set to begin in March 2025.
Price & Rivals
At ₹3.95 lakh, the Tuono 457 is priced ₹25,000 lower than the RS 457, making it an attractive option in the premium middleweight segment. Its primary competitor is the Yamaha MT-03, which was recently repriced to ₹3.50 lakh. Additionally, the KTM 390 Duke, now available for ₹2.95 lakh, remains a strong alternative, although it features a single-cylinder engine, unlike the twin-cylinder setups on the Aprilia and Yamaha.
With its aggressive styling, performance-oriented DNA, and a competitive price tag, the Aprilia Tuono 457 is set to appeal to enthusiasts looking for a stylish and engaging streetfighter.
