All-New Jawa 42 FJ Launched in India at ₹1.99 Lakh

Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles has introduced the all-new Jawa 42 FJ in India with a starting price of ₹1,99,142 (ex-showroom Delhi), which is ₹26,200 more than the standard Jawa 42. This neo-retro motorcycle features a sportier design with a new fuel tank, a single-piece seat, and dual upswept exhausts, making it a standout in the segment.

Pricing and Color Options

The Jawa 42 FJ is available in five color variants. The entry-level Aurora Green Matte with spoke wheels is priced at ₹1,99,142, while the alloy variant costs ₹2,10,142. The Cosmo Blue Matte and Mystique Copper options are priced at ₹2,15,142. The top-of-the-line Deep Black Matte Red Clad and Deep Black Matte Black Clad are available for ₹2,20,142.

Rivalry in the Market

The Jawa 42 FJ competes with popular models like the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, Royal Enfield Classic 350, Honda H’ness CB350, Honda CB350 RS, and Hero Maverick 440, offering a stylish and powerful alternative in the neo-retro segment.

Engine and Performance

The 2024 Jawa 42 FJ is powered by the same 334cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder Alpha2 engine found in the updated Jawa 350. It delivers 29.2PS of power and 29.6Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. In comparison, the standard Jawa 42 features a smaller 294cc engine producing 27.32PS and 26.84Nm.

Chassis and Suspension

Built on a double-cradle frame with a 1440mm wheelbase, the Jawa 42 FJ is equipped with a telescopic fork at the front and 5-step preload-adjustable twin shocks at the rear. It features a 320mm front disc brake and a 240mm rear disc brake, with dual-channel ABS as standard. The bike rides on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, available in both spoke and alloy options, fitted with 100-section front and 140-section rear tires. The seat height is set at 790mm, with a ground clearance of 178mm and a kerb weight of 184kg.

Features

The Jawa 42 FJ boasts all-LED lighting and a full-LCD instrument console, similar to the Jawa 42 and 42 Bobber. The display includes a speedometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel level, clock, and other essential details, though it lacks smartphone connectivity. Additional features include a USB charging port and a 12-litre fuel tank.

BikeDekho’s Take

The launch of the Jawa 42 FJ expands the Jawa 42 lineup, providing customers with more options tailored to different preferences. With its more powerful engine and sportier appeal, the Jawa 42 FJ is likely to attract younger riders looking for a stylish and performance-oriented bike.
