2023 Hyundai Verna Teased Before India Debut, Booking Starts at Rs 25,000

2023 Hyundai Verna Teased Before India Debut, Booking Starts at Rs 25,000

The first teasers for the next-generation Hyundai Verna sedan have been released. The brand-new Verna, which is called BN7i inside the company, will go on sale in May 2023. The price to reserve a new Verna from the company is Rs 25,000. Hyundai has shared information about the new Verna’s powertrain and different models along with the teasers and booking information.

What do the teasers say about the new Hyundai Verna?

The new Hyundai Verna has a completely new look, and the teasers show that the design was influenced by a number of the most recent Hyundai sedans.

First of all, the new Verna has a striking front end with two layers of headlights, just like the latest-generation Hyundai Grandeur sedan sold overseas. The grille is almost as wide as the car and has many cuts and folds. The grille inserts look a lot like the ones on the Tucson SUV and the current-generation Elantra sedan, which isn’t sold in our market. The new Verna also has a full-width horizontal light bar that will serve as the LED daytime running lamp. This design feature can be seen on other Hyundai cars, like the Staria MPV and the Grandeur sedan.

On the sides, the new Verna has more cuts and creases than its predecessor and looks more like a sporty hatchback than a regular sedan because of this. Like other Hyundai sedans sold overseas, the doors and fenders will have more creases.

The new Verna has a unique look in the back, where the taillights stick out. The taillights are connected to an LED light bar and have pieces that look like crystals. Also, each side of the light bar has two vertical extensions that make the car look different. Even though Hyundai hasn’t said for sure, the Verna’s front design could have the same set-up.

The engine, models, and colours of the new Hyundai Verna

Along with showing off some of the new Verna’s design, Hyundai India also revealed that the new sedan will have two 1.5-liter gasoline engines. The first is a brand-new 1.5-liter direct-injection turbo-petrol engine that will make around 160hp. This engine will come with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DCT transmission. This unit will eventually replace the 1.4-liter turbo petrol engine in most Hyundai-Kia models in India, such as the Creta, Seltos, and Carens.

The base engine for the Verna will be a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine that will come with either a 6-speed manual transmission or an IVT CVT automatic transmission. This engine is likely to be the same one that is currently used in the Creta, Seltos, and Carens.

The next-generation Hyundai Verna won’t have a diesel engine option. Since no other midsize sedan has a diesel engine, the midsize sedan segment will now only have gasoline engines. Hyundai has also confirmed that the engines in the new Verna will work with both RDE and E20 (20 percent ethanol blend).

The new Verna will come in four different trims: EX, S, SX, and SX(O). We expect that the 1.5-liter TGDI engine will be available on the higher trims, while the 1.5-liter NA engine will be standard on the lower trims.

Hyundai will sell the new Verna in seven single-tone colours and two two-tone colours. The company says that the sedan now comes in three new colours: Abyss Black, Atlas White, and Tellurian Brown.

Pricing and release information for the new Hyundai Verna

Since Hyundai is now taking reservations for the new Verna, you can expect to hear more about it in the next few days. The price should be announced before May of this year. The new Verna is expected to go into mass production in the coming months. Compared to its predecessor, it will be a much stronger competitor to the VW Virtus, the Skoda Slavia, the upcoming facelifted Honda City sedan, and the old Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine will make the new Verna more expensive than the old one.
